Navigation

BackCountry Navigator is only available for Android devices but is an excellent application.  This is the main application that is used for our trips and has never failed.  BackCountry Navigator has the capabilities to work fully offline by downloading the maps to your desired device.  Maps can be downloaded and trips can be planned in advance so you can be confident when exploring new areas.  Custom maps can be imported into BackCountry Navigator with ease and you can find more information here.  There is a free version and a paid version but the free version does everything we need it to.  You can always contact us if you have any questions with this application.

Gaia GPS

Gaia GPS is available for both Android and Apple devices.  A few of our members run this application on Apple devices.  Gaia also allows for use maps fully offline if they are downloaded in advance.  Just like BackCountry, Gaia will allow for importing of custom maps so you can plan your trips out in advance.  You can find more information here.
